In Ohio, USA, 16 siblings aged between 1.5 and 18 were accidentally rescued from a 13-square-meter room where they were locked in human waste by a family that had been moving constantly for 20 years to evade official records during a search for another investigation. One of the children was intubated, while the arrested mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather face 16 separate charges with bail set at $300,000 per person.

The rural Hamden region of Ohio, USA, witnessed one of the most horrifying child abuse cases in the country's history.

16 CHILDREN RESCUED, IMPRISONED IN A 13 SQUARE METER ROOM

Police officers, entering a house in the area with a search warrant as part of another judicial investigation, coincidentally found and rescued 16 siblings, aged between 1.5 and 18, who had been locked in a single room of approximately 13 square meters for the past 4 years.

Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson and Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain, describing the scene as "pure evil" and "the worst incident of their careers," reported that the children were living in human waste. Sheriff Cain highlighted the extent of the atrocity, saying, "I can say that livestock are kept in better conditions than these children."

While no cages were found in the room, it was stated that the children, who had not seen sunlight for years, suffered severe trauma; some could not speak at all, and the oldest child, aged 18, could not even spell their own name. It was reported that one of the children taken to the hospital was in critical condition and was intubated.

THEY HID BY CONSTANTLY MOVING FOR 20 YEARS

An in-depth investigation by inspectors also revealed the family's unimaginable method of hiding. It was determined that the criminal family, consisting of the mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather, had been constantly moving like nomads throughout Southern Ohio for the past 20 years, without registering with any state, population, or medical records. The suspects never sent any of the children to school, completely isolating them from the outside world. Residents of Hamden, with a population under a thousand, were shocked to learn that children were living in the house, stating they had never seen any children in the area since the family moved in.

$300,000 BAIL PER PERSON AND 16 SEPARATE CASES

Following the incident, family members Gary Siders Jr, Gary Siders Sr, Christina Siders, and Elizabeth Siders were taken into custody, brought before a judge, and arrested and sent to prison. The court set a cash bail of $300,000 for each of the defendants. Vinton County Prosecutor William Archer emphasized that the incident was not human trafficking but a tragic "domestic situation," announcing that 16 separate cases had been filed against each of the 4 suspects for "serious physical harm and endangerment to a child." The prosecutor's office completed legal procedures to transfer temporary custody of the children to the state.
