Comedian Şahan Gökbakar, who testified as a witness in the investigation conducted against the Ahbap Association, stated that he had no relationship with Haluk Levent or the Ahbap Association at any time. Gökbakar, who said he preferred AFAD for aid activities, stated that Haluk Levent did not inspire trust in him due to his past and that he did not support Ahbap. Gökbakar also recounted that they argued with Levent on social media over tent purchases made from the Red Crescent.
Within the scope of the 2025/284884 numbered Ahbap investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau of Investigation of Terrorism Financing and Money Laundering Crimes, actor and comedian Şahan Gökbakar's statement was taken as a witness.
In his statement to the prosecutor, Gökbakar made striking remarks regarding his relationship with Haluk Levent and the Ahbap Association. Stating that he never had any relationship with the Ahbap Association at any time and never provided any financial aid through the association, Gökbakar explained that he carried out his aid activities during disaster periods through his own means and his social media audience.
"HALUK LEVENT NEVER INSPIRED CONFIDENCE IN ME"
Gökbakar stated that before the February 6 earthquakes, he knew Haluk Levent only from the public eye, and said that due to what he knew about Levent's past, he never trusted him.
Gökbakar used the following statement at the prosecutor's office: "I knew he had been sentenced for check, promissory note, or fraud crimes. Therefore, he never inspired confidence in me."
Gökbakar's account revealed that his approach to Haluk Levent and the Ahbap Association dated back much earlier than the February 6 earthquakes.
"I NEVER HAD ANY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE AHBAP ASSOCIATION AT ANY TIME"
In his statement, Şahan Gökbakar particularly emphasized that there was no financial or organizational connection between him and Ahbap.
Saying, "I have never had a relationship with the Ahbap Association at any time, and I have never provided financial aid through this association," Gökbakar noted that he organized his aid during natural disasters with his own means.
Gökbakar also clearly declared that he did not carry out aid activities through any private organization, association, or foundation.
"I ALSO DIRECTED MY AUDIENCE TO AFAD"
While describing his understanding of aid during disaster periods, Gökbakar drew attention to his directions to state institutions.
Gökbakar stated that he provided financial and moral aid with his own means during the flood disaster in Kastamonu in 2021 and the forest fires in Muğla the same year, and explained that the aid collected through him was delivered to AFAD, a state institution.
Saying that he also announced the aid he provided to AFAD during the flood disaster in Kastamonu on his social media account, Gökbakar stated, "In this way, I also directed my own audience to AFAD. My perspective has always been that such aid activities should be carried out through official channels."
"I HAD NO DISCOURSE SUPPORTING AHBAP"
Gökbakar also recorded that he did not change his approach after the February 6 earthquakes. Explaining that he delivered aid to the earthquake region with his own means, Gökbakar said he did not make any statements supporting the Ahbap Association or Haluk Levent on social media or traditional media.
Stating that he also advised his circle that aid activities should be carried out through the state's official institutions, Gökbakar told the prosecutor, "In such events, I have always supported and found it correct for aid activities to be carried out by the state, through official institutions."
"I ARGUED WITH HALUK LEVENT OVER RED CRESCENT TENTS"
Gökbakar's statement also included the issue of tent procurement from the Red Crescent, which came to the agenda after the February 6 earthquakes.
Stating that he approached Haluk Levent's statements regarding tent purchases from the Red Crescent with a questioning attitude, Gökbakar explained that after a post he made on this issue, he had a verbal argument with Levent over social media.
Emphasizing that he did not support Ahbap during this process either, Gökbakar said that on the contrary, his critical attitude towards Levent continued.
"I SAID THAT HALUK LEVENT SHOULD BE APPROACHED MORE CAREFULLY"
Şahan Gökbakar also recorded in the prosecutor's report that he drew attention to Haluk Levent's past in his close circle and on his social media accounts. Gökbakar said, "Taking into account Haluk Levent's past files, I declared that he should be approached more carefully."
Stating that due to this attitude, he drew the reaction of those who supported Haluk Levent and Ahbap at that time, Gökbakar also explained that he was criticized.
"IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO ENGAGE IN SUCH AN ACTIVITY WITH AHBAP"
At the end of his statement, Gökbakar evaluated the line he adopted regarding disaster aid together with his approach to the Ahbap Association, emphasizing that it was out of the question for him to carry out a joint aid activity with Ahbap.
At the prosecutor's office, Gökbakar stated, "Given this situation, it is impossible for me to engage in such an activity with the Ahbap Association," and once again recorded that he had no relationship with the Ahbap Association.
In the file being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau of Investigation of Terrorism Financing and Money Laundering Crimes, Gökbakar's witness statements were included in the investigation record.
