In Diyarbakır, where scorching heat intensified, domestic tourists exploring the city faced difficult moments. With temperatures rising above 40 degrees, many visitors headed to historical mosques to cool off.
Mosques, also occupied by citizens waiting for prayer times, became popular spots for both worshippers and tourists due to their cool atmosphere.
"WE CAME TO THE MOSQUE TO COOL DOWN"
Eyüp Bağcı, who came from Istanbul, said that while touring Ulu Mosque, they noticed the inside was cool and decided to rest. Bağcı stated, "It's very hot outside; we came to the mosque to cool down. We'll rest here a bit and continue exploring. We were touring, and around noon it started getting hotter. While walking around the mosque, we felt it was cool here, so we wanted to rest until the temperature drops."
"BOTH HISTORICAL AND COOL"
Muhammet Karaaslan, who came from Mardin, noted that they sought shelter in the mosque due to the hot weather and said, "The mosque is cool and beautiful. It's a historical mosque. We came to see it, and upon seeing it's cool, we wanted to take a break here."
Due to the high temperatures persisting in Diyarbakır, historical mosques have become frequent destinations for both those wishing to pray and visitors seeking to cool down.
