The incident occurred in the Tülbentli neighborhood of Menemen district. According to the allegation, an argument broke out between Özge Penbegül, who was at home, and her fiancé Aykut Erol for a reason not yet determined. As the argument escalated, Aykut Erol fired at Özge Penbegül with the handgun he had with him and then shot himself with the same weapon.
BOTH LOST THEIR LIVES
Upon notification, medical, police, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. In the check carried out by medical teams, it was determined that Özge Penbegül had lost her life. Aykut Erol, who was seriously injured, could not be saved despite the intervention of doctors at İzmir City Hospital, where he was taken.
The lifeless bodies of Aykut Erol, who was stated to be a police officer on duty in Hakkari, and lawyer Özge Penbegül, were sent to the morgue of the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
