The incident took place on Belgrade Street in the Schwabing district. After receiving reports from bystanders about "a person carrying an object resembling a weapon," plainclothes police officers arrived at the scene and shot the young man, wounding him.
SERIOUSLY WOUNDED
The seriously wounded teenager was taken into surgery, and his condition is reported to be stable.
Police sources claimed that "the young man acted as if he were loading the weapon and, despite warnings, raised it and turned it towards them."
Police stated that the softair gun in the young man's hand was extremely difficult to distinguish from a real firearm at a distance.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE LAUNCHED A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION
The prosecutor's office has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident. It has been reported that the police officer who fired the shot is currently being considered as a "witness" in the investigation.
Regarding the shot teenager, an investigation was initiated on the grounds that he threatened police officers. It was stated that the young man came to Germany with his family in 2023 and that his asylum application was rejected.
