As part of the ongoing efforts in Şanlıurfa, approximately 28,000 stray animals have been taken to shelters, and it has been announced that there are no stray animals left in the city and district centers.
Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak announced that the target for collecting stray animals across the province has been achieved as a result of the efforts carried out under the Animal Protection Law No. 5199. Şıldak stated that the work carried out under the coordination of the Governorship since February 2025 continues with determination.
27,960 ANIMALS TAKEN TO SHELTERS
Governor Şıldak expressed that animal shelters have been established by municipalities in all districts, with 27 veterinarians assigned to these centers and 62 personnel actively working in the collection teams. He reported that a total of 27,960 stray animals have been collected and taken to shelters, and 3,374 animals have been neutered.
"NO STRAY ANIMALS IN THE CENTERS"
At this stage, Şıldak stated that there are no stray animals left in the city center and district centers, and that collection efforts are ongoing in rural neighborhoods, while control activities continue in the centers and districts. He requested citizens to report to the 112 Emergency Call Center if they see stray animals on the street.
