CURRENT FISH PRICES AT STALLS
At fish stalls in the city center, bonito is sold at 100 lira each, while horse mackerel and whiting are 200 lira per kilogram, red mullet 150, sea bream 500, garfish 300, and anchovy ranges between 150 and 200 lira.
Fisherman Gökhan Uzman told an AA correspondent that bonito has been plentiful this season and citizens have eaten their fill of bonito.
CITIZENS STOCKED UP FOR WINTER
Recalling that last year's bonito catch remained below expectations, Uzman noted that this season prices dropped to as low as 50 lira, and citizens bought bonito by the case to stock up for winter.
ALL EYES ON ANCHOVY
Stating that bonito is currently sold at 100 lira each, Uzman said, "We hope that as the weather gets colder, it will give way to anchovy. Our people have missed anchovy. Let them eat some anchovy too; they have had their fill of bonito."
Kenan Er, who was shopping for fish, also noted that bonito prices were reasonable and said, "Bonito has decreased a bit, but our prices are still normal. We are buying bonito for 100 lira. Bonito was plentiful this year; we are grateful. Citizens are pleased, sellers are pleased, and those who catch it are pleased."
