Extreme heat affecting the Southeastern Anatolia Region has brought life to a standstill in Şanlıurfa. As thermometers reached 45 degrees Celsius in the city, streets emptied due to the high temperature, while citizens who were outside flocked to shaded areas and parks.
BALIKLIGOL AND PARKS BECOME COOLING SPOTS
Residents of Şanlıurfa, seeking to escape the scorching sun, took refuge in the historic Balıklıgöl complex and the green areas of the city's parks. Alongside citizens trying to cool down in tree shade, many people who had to walk outside were seen taking precautions with umbrellas and hats to protect themselves from the sun.
"FAN" PRECAUTION IN HISTORIC BAZAARS
Due to the heatwave, human activity decreased in many parts of the city, giving way to calmness, while shopkeepers experienced tough times. In the historic bazaar area, large fans and cooling systems were operated non-stop in the corridors to allow both tradesmen and visiting shoppers to breathe a little. Experts warn that especially those with chronic illnesses, the elderly, and children should not go outside during the sun's peak hours unless necessary.
