The escalation of scorching heat in summer months turns parked cars into veritable time bombs. Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department issued a critical warning that everyday items carelessly left inside vehicles, such as lighters, deodorants, and power banks, can explode due to high heat, causing irreversible fires.
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department warned vehicle owners against a deadly trap as summer heat sets in. Officials stated that lighters, deodorants, and power banks left in vehicles turn into bombs in extreme heat, and noted that windows create a lens effect, triggering major fires.
WINDOWS CREATE LENS EFFECT: FIRE RISK MULTIPLIES
Muhammet Zeynuddin Bağdat, Head of the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, stated that increasing air temperatures combined with hazardous materials inside vehicles could lead to disaster. Bağdat said, "With the warming weather, the windows in our vehicles act as lenses. Lighters, deodorants, and power banks left inside our vehicles cause very high fire risks. We warn citizens not to leave these items in their vehicles."
GREAT NEGLIGENCE AT MALLS AND MARKET ENTRANCES: CHILDREN AND PETS ARE FORGOTTEN
Emphasizing that there has been a very painful increase in recent reports to the fire department, Department Head Bağdat drew attention to lives trapped in closed vehicles. Stating that citizens show great irresponsibility while shopping, Bağdat said, "Looking at the reports we have received recently, when people go to shopping malls or markets, they leave young children and pets inside vehicles. Because they are deprived of air, very serious problems occur. We are encountering these cases very frequently lately," and made a vital call.
