A judge serving at the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals was shot and injured by his brother, with whom he had a dispute over inheritance sharing. The suspect was quickly taken into custody.
In an incident that occurred today in Ümraniye, a judge serving at the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals was shot by his brother, with whom he had a feud over inheritance distribution. The judge, who was injured as a result of the gunfire, was taken to the hospital, while the brother who carried out the attack was detained by the police.
SHOT AND FLED
According to the information received, police teams went to the scene after an announcement regarding an armed fight on Hürriyet Street in Atatürk Neighborhood at around 09:40. In the interviews conducted by the police with the bystanders, it was learned that two individuals were fighting, one person shot the other, and then left the scene with the injured person in his vehicle.
THE ATTACKER TURNED OUT TO BE HIS BROTHER
In the investigations carried out, it was determined that the injured person was Z.Y., a judge serving at the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals, and he was injured in a non-life-threatening manner on his right wrist. Following an interview with Z.Y., it was established that he had a feud with his brother G.Y. over inheritance distribution, which led to their argument and his brother shooting him.
The suspect G.Y. was detained by the police.
