In the brutal incident where two brothers were killed with their hands tied and throats slit in Sivas, it has been claimed that the main target of the suspect was the brothers' mother, and that he may have planned to kill her as well if she had come home early. Additionally, there is speculation that the suspect may have also killed the brothers' father, who has been missing for five years.
Recently, a brutal incident occurred in Sivas. In an apartment located on 58th Street in Kılavuz Neighborhood, Ayşegül Şimşek, who had gone to visit relatives in her village, found her children, Umutcan (22) and Melisa Şimşek (16), covered in blood when she returned late at night. Health teams who arrived at the scene upon notification determined that the siblings had lost their lives.
THEY WERE BOUND AND THEIR THROATS WERE CUT
Investigations by the police revealed that both siblings had their hands bound with plastic handcuffs and their throats cut with a knife. After the examination by the public prosecutor, the bodies of Umutcan and Melisa Şimşek were taken for autopsy.
IDENTIFIED WITH 25 HOURS OF CAMERA FOOTAGE
Police teams examining the building's security cameras identified a person who entered the apartment around 5:00 PM and exited again around 10:00 PM, wearing a mask, glasses, a hat, and holding a bag. It was learned that approximately 25 hours of camera footage was reviewed to capture the suspect, and a machete and knife believed to have been used in the incident were found in different locations. The person who committed the act was identified as Hüseyin S. (34), who had come to the city from Ankara and returned after the murders. Following a coordinated operation with the Ankara Provincial Police Department, murder suspect Hüseyin S. was captured and taken into custody.
THEIR FATHER WENT MISSING 5 YEARS AGO
It was revealed that the father of the murdered siblings, Uğur Şimşek, had gone missing 5 years ago at the age of 48. Uğur Şimşek, who lived in Sivas and was known to occasionally work as a taxi driver and livestock dealer, reportedly left on July 24, 2020, telling his wife Ayşegül Şimşek that he would be going out of town, and has not been heard from since.
THEY APPEARED ON TELEVISION
About 11 months after that date, it was reported that the siblings and their mother Ayşegül Şimşek appeared on a national television program to seek help in finding Uğur Şimşek. In the program, Ayşegül Şimşek stated that her husband did not have a regular job, that he often communicated online, and that they had not heard from him since he mentioned going out of town. It was also revealed that the suspect Hüseyin S., who was last seen with Uğur Şimşek in Ankara, participated in the program via phone.
THE FUNERALS WERE BURIED
The funerals of Umutcan and Melisa Şimşek, who were autopsied at the hospital yesterday, were handed over to their families. The two siblings were buried after a funeral prayer, amidst prayers and tears.
ALLEGATION THAT THE TARGET WAS THE MOTHER
Furthermore, it is claimed that the suspect Hüseyin S., who cold-bloodedly killed Umutcan and his sister Melisa Şimşek by cutting their throats in the house they lived in Sivas, actually targeted their mother, Ayşegül Şimşek. It is believed that the suspect was angry with the family due to a missing person decision regarding Uğur Şimşek, and that he may have committed this act because the debt he allegedly gave to Uğur Şimşek was canceled as a result of the missing person decision.
After entering the building around 5:00 PM, it was reported that neighbors heard screams from the apartment where the two siblings were located, and that the suspect, who stayed in the house for nearly 5 hours, was waiting for their mother, who was in Yıldızeli district. However, as time passed, he became anxious and left the house, while mother Ayşegül Şimşek found her children's lifeless bodies when she arrived around midnight. It was suggested that if Ayşegül Şimşek had returned home earlier, he might have planned to kill her as well.
THE POSSIBILITY THAT HE ALSO KILLED THEIR FATHER IS BEING CONSIDERED
It was learned that the suspect Hüseyin S. had been taken into custody and questioned by the police several times in Ankara following broadcasts related to the missing Uğur Şimşek, but was released due to a lack of evidence and statements indicating he had no connection to Uğur Şimşek's disappearance. It is believed that the suspect forced Uğur Şimşek, the father of the murdered children, to sign a fake promissory note worth 500,000 lira, and that he committed the murder for this reason. The case will be clarified based on the statements given by the suspect.
