"THE BODY WAS NOT BROUGHT TO THE PARLIAMENT BECAUSE THE FAMILY DID NOT WANT IT"
After this ceremony, the reason why Önder's funeral was not brought to the TBMM was questioned. Speaking about Önder's funeral, Fatih Atik stated, "The body was not brought to the Parliament because the family did not want it. Devlet Bahçeli touched Önder's photograph at the entrance of the hall. Süreyya Önder was a person with a big heart. He played an important role as a bridge. The hand extended was not only for Süreyya Önder; the extended hand is the hand of the state’s compassion. All parties were there. The striking image was the body of Süreyya Önder wrapped in the Turkish flag," he expressed.
