The police, continuing their efforts to solve the murder of high school student Çağla Tuğaltay, who was killed 25 years ago in Fulya, Istanbul, will scan the three fingerprints found at the crime scene and the DNA samples found under the young girl's nails in the Interpol database. The police will compare the available samples with those from 196 countries in an attempt to reach the killer.

25 YEARS AGO SHE WAS BRUTALLY MURDERED



On June 5, 2000, high school student Çağla Tuğaltay, who left school and returned to her home in Fulya, Istanbul around 4:40 PM, was brutally murdered by one or more killers, having her throat slit before she even had the chance to take off her school uniform.

3 FINGERPRINTS AND DNA SAMPLES DID NOT MATCH ANYONE



In the investigation launched after the murder, three fingerprints belonging to a foreign person were found in the kitchen. However, no match was found regarding these fingerprints in the subsequent studies. Additionally, DNA samples identified as belonging to a male were found under Çağla Tuğaltay's nails. However, there has been no match to date regarding these DNA samples or the samples taken from the bloodstain found at the entrance of the building.

NOW SAMPLES FROM 196 COUNTRIES WILL BE SCANNED



The teams from the Murder Bureau have initiated a comprehensive study this year regarding the murder of Çağla Tuğaltay, which has remained unsolved for 25 years. Under the instruction of Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız, it was decided to compare the found samples with those in the Interpol database. Upon the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, permission was granted to scan the fingerprint and DNA findings from the Interpol archives. It has been learned that the findings will be compared with the records of 196 countries that are members of Interpol.
