A verdict has been reached in the case regarding the claim that 'a dam burst in Hatay' spread on social media during the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. Oğuzhan Uğur and two others were acquitted, and it was decided that the attorney fees would be covered by the treasury.

THE 2.5-YEAR JUDICIAL PROCESS HAS CONCLUDED

The lawsuit filed over the post allegedly spread through Babala TV, founded by Oğuzhan Uğur, was concluded after approximately 2.5 years of proceedings. Although the prosecutor's office submitted an opinion requesting the punishment of the defendants, the court rendered an acquittal decision.

CLAIM THAT 'AID ACTIVITIES WERE DISRUPTED'

The complainants who filed the lawsuit claimed that the post quickly spread, causing panic in the region and disrupting aid efforts in Hatay for about 3.5 hours. In this context, legal proceedings were initiated based on complaints from 8 individuals.

THE DECISION WILL BE APPEALED

Hasret Yıldırım, who is in the position of a plaintiff, stated in a statement after the court ruling that they would take the case to the court of appeals. Yıldırım argued that unverified information spread during the earthquake process led to serious consequences and claimed that aid coordination was negatively affected.

ATTORNEY FEES CHARGED TO THE TREASURY

In the court decision, it was stated that due to Oğuzhan Uğur's acquittal, the attorney fees would be covered by the treasury. Yıldırım also reacted to this situation.

CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENTS CAME TO THE AGENDA
