In the Reyhanlı district of Hatay, the children of Kadriye Alyar, a mother of 7 who lost her life in a terrorist attack on May 11, 2013, have been spending Mother's Day with a heavy heart for 12 years.
In the terrorist attacks carried out in the Reyhanlı district on May 11, 2013, 53 citizens lost their lives. Kadriye Alyar, who was 37 years old and lost her life during the attack while she was out shopping to buy a gift for her mother, left behind 7 children. The Alyar siblings, especially the twin sisters who were just 6 months old when their mother passed away, spend Mother's Day without their mother with a heavy heart.
"I RELIVE THAT PAINFUL DAY EVERY MAY 11"
Resul Alyar, who stated that their pain is still fresh, expressed his desire for all perpetrators to be caught, saying, "I lost my mother in the May 11 attack due to the explosion. She had gone out to the market to buy a Mother's Day gift for my grandmother, and the explosion occurred on her way back. My mother became a martyr in the explosion. I realized my mother was not at home, and when I went to the market, I couldn't find her, and then we received the news of her passing. We are 7 siblings; when my mother passed away, my youngest twin sisters were just 6 months old. They were still breastfeeding. I am the second oldest son, and I have an older brother. May God bless our state; they are finding the perpetrators of the incident one by one. I want all the perpetrators to be caught. Every May 11, I experience Mother's Day with a heartfelt sadness. Every May 11, I relive that painful day, even though 14 years have passed, our pain feels like it was just yesterday. My mother passed away at the age of 37; she was a mother of 7 children and was still very young. All I want is for our state to remain strong. Our unity as siblings is very good, but I feel a heaviness inside us. On Mother's Day, my brother and I would buy flowers and give them to our mother, and we were happy. Now, we all feel a sense of sadness. Everyone has a phone contact for their mother, but we don't have such a record; after the explosion, three of my aunts raised us. May God be pleased with them; all three are like my second mothers. I want martyrdom to be granted by our state; there is always a sense of sadness inside us," he stated.
