In a statement made by the Yalova Governorship regarding the issue, it was stated, "On January 29, 2025, at around 20:20, due to the foaming of the regulator pool that feeds our province, it was assessed that an unknown substance was added to the water, and as a precaution to protect public health, a water cut was implemented throughout the city. Our Provincial Health Directorate teams have started detailed analysis work by taking samples from the affected water. The analysis results will be shared with the public transparently. To determine the cause of this unusual situation, a comprehensive investigation has been initiated by our law enforcement and relevant institutions. Within the scope of the investigation, 4 individuals have been taken into custody for questioning. The investigation process is being carried out meticulously by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The duration of the water cut will be determined based on the analysis results and the course of the investigation. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this process. The health and safety of the people of Yalova is our top priority. We kindly request that the statements made by the relevant institutions, and those to be made, are taken into consideration to prevent disinformation." It was learned that the suspects taken into custody were former municipal employees.

It was reported that the gendarmerie seized the mobile phones of the 3 municipal employees, who were previously dismissed, due to the possibility of their involvement in the incident.
MAYOR: NO PROBLEM
The foaming that occurred in the section leading from the treatment facility to the dam was captured on mobile phone cameras. Yalova Mayor Mehmet Gürel stated in a social media announcement, "We observed foaming in the Kurtköy Dere diversion. Our teams intervened immediately, and we are carrying out a technical cleaning as a precaution. Therefore, there may be a water cut today. Rest assured, there is no problem."
