As the death toll in the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia rises to 32, interesting images have emerged from the region. The Thai army has deployed elephants to the Cambodian border.
The number of people who lost their lives in the border tensions that flared up between Thailand and Cambodia on July 24 has reached 32.
CASUALTIES IN THAILAND-CAMBODIA WAR REACH 32
Despite calls for a ceasefire, the tension at the Thailand-Cambodia border has entered its third day. The number of deaths on both sides has reached 32. According to Khmer Times, Cambodian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Maly Socheata stated that 5 soldiers and 8 civilians, a total of 13 people, lost their lives in the tensions between the two countries.
Maly Socheata reported that 50 Cambodian civilians were also injured in the clashes. Additionally, the Thai side announced that 6 soldiers and 19 people lost their lives in the clashes.
THAI ARMY DEPLOYS ELEPHANT TO THE BORDER
Interesting images from the war have emerged. The Thai army deployed an elephant to the Cambodia border. It was observed that the elephant was dressed in military uniform and equipped with a long-barreled weapon.
BATTLESHIPS SENT TO THE BORDER
According to reports in the country's press, the Thai administration has dispatched 4 warships to the border region where tensions continue. Thai fighter jets are also operating in the area. The Thai government has urgently called on its citizens living in Cambodia to leave the country.
CEASEFIRE EFFORTS
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim proposed a ceasefire during a phone call with the leaders of the two countries on July 24 and reported that the countries responded positively to it. The Cambodian and Thai administrations, which stated that they accepted Anwar's call, continued to blame each other for the clashes.
BORDER TENSIONS BETWEEN THAILAND AND CAMBODIA
Thailand and Cambodia, located in Southeast Asia and separated by 817 kilometers of border fences, have long been experiencing territorial disputes. Following the violation of the border agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, a brief conflict occurred in the region on May 28, and the armies of both countries agreed to resolve the issue peacefully. Thailand announced that all control points on the Cambodia border would be controlled by the Bangkok administration.
