At the Edremit Book Fair, a notable intervention came from Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör to Ahmet Özer, the dismissed Mayor of Esenyurt, who was speaking at the panel titled 'From Local to Power.' After the panel, Şengör, who had a scheduled talk, went on stage to indicate that the speaking time had expired, approached Özer, showed the watch on his wrist, and said, 'Time is up.'

The 8th Edremit Book Fair, organized by Edremit Municipality under the theme "A Book in the Shadow of the Immortal Tree," opened its doors with a ceremony held at the Altınkum Fair Area.

AHMET ÖZER ALSO ATTENDED

In the panel titled "From Local to Power," moderated by Fair Coordinator Sinan Karahan, Ahmet Özer, who was removed from his post as Mayor of Esenyurt and replaced by a trustee, came together with Gömeç Mayor Melih Bağcı and Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş. During the panel, the speakers made assessments on local government experiences and urban sociology.

CELAL ŞENGÖR'S INTERVENTION TO ÖZER: HE CAME ON STAGE

In the final part of the panel, notable moments occurred. Geologist Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör, the honorary guest of the fair, took the stage during Ahmet Özer's speech and came right next to Özer. After waiting for a while with his hands clasped behind his back, Şengör pointed to his wristwatch and said to Özer, "Time's up."

ÖZER ENDED HIS SPEECH

After Şengör's intervention, Ahmet Özer was seen finishing his speech shortly after and leaving the stage. Following the panel, Şengör met with fair participants in a talk titled "Memories with İlber Hoca."
