The fight against the flames by teams continues in the forest fire that started in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. In the fire that started in a milk truck near Düvertepe neighborhood and spread to the forested area, extinguishing efforts continue from the ground after the aerial intervention ended. Teams in the region are working tirelessly to bring the fire under control.
Efforts to extinguish a fire that started on a roadway in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir and spread to a forested area continue uninterrupted. While numerous aerial and ground vehicles are responding to the fire that broke out near Düvertepe Neighborhood, security measures have been taken in the region as a precaution.
FIRE STARTED ON TRUCK, SPREAD TO FOREST
The fire started at around 1:00 PM on a milk truck traveling on the Sındırgı-Simav highway. The fire, which broke out for an undetermined reason, quickly spread to the forested area along the roadside.
Upon reports from those who saw the smoke, the Regional Directorate of Forestry, fire departments, and other teams were dispatched to the area. As the flames spread into the forested area, an intense response was launched from the air and ground.
7 PLANES, 8 HELICOPTERS, AND 295 PERSONNEL ON DUTY
The Balıkesir Governorship announced that 7 planes, 8 helicopters, 31 water tenders, 3 fire trucks, 16 water tankers, 8 initial response vehicles, 21 service vehicles, 4 bulldozers, and 2 ambulances were used in the response to the fire.
It was reported that a total of 295 personnel were involved in fighting the fire.
GOVERNOR USTAOĞLU MONITORED OPERATIONS FROM FIRE MANAGEMENT CENTER
Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu also closely followed the operations in the fire area. Ustaoğlu, who went to the Fire Management Center, received information from officials about the teams' field activities and the progress of the intervention.
Governor Ustaoğlu coordinated the efforts to bring the fire under control from the center.
PRECAUTIONS TAKEN AROUND RESIDENTIAL AREAS
Due to the fire being effective in an area close to residential areas, a security corridor was established as a precaution. Teams from the Sındırgı Municipality also warned citizens via announcements not to use the Sındırgı-Simav highway.
After dark, aerial intervention ended, while extinguishing efforts continued uninterrupted from the ground.

Meanwhile, cell phone footage has emerged showing the moments when the milk truck, which was the source of the fire, was consumed by the flames. In the footage, the flames and thick smoke rising from the truck drew attention.
