Following the attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, which resulted in the death of a sailor, tensions have escalated between Tehran and Kiev. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the UN Charter has been violated and issued a message of revenge, saying, "This act by the parasitic administration in Kiev will not go unanswered." While the Ukrainian chargé d'affaires was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, the Tehran administration announced that it will exercise its right to self-defense and declare the source of the attack as an open target.

Tensions between Iran and Ukraine have taken a new turn following an attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Ukraine targeted an Iranian-linked commercial ship and announced that the attack would be retaliated.
In a post on his social media account, Araghchi said he also raised the attack during phone calls with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
'PARASITIC' REGIME IN KIEV
Araghchi targeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that an Iranian sailor lost his life in the attack. The Iranian minister argued that the attack was a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, using the phrase, 'This action by the Kiev 'parasitic' regime will not go unanswered.'
ZELENSKYY HAD ANNOUNCED THE ATTACK
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a statement a day earlier, had announced that vessels carrying Iranian-linked military supplies and a warship in the Caspian Sea were targeted with long-range strikes.
Iran, however, announced that the targeted vessel was a commercial ship, not a military one, and that one sailor had died in the attack.
UKRAINIAN CHARGE D'AFFAIRES SUMMONED TO FOREIGN MINISTRY
Following the attack, Ukraine's Charge d'Affaires in Tehran was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Amid escalating diplomatic tensions, Iranian Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad also issued harsh messages.
'FOOLISH ACT'
In a speech in Parliament, Nikzad described Ukraine's attack as a 'foolish act,' saying, 'Iran will always exercise its right to self-defense. The source of attacks against our country will be a legitimate target of our armed forces. Ukraine's foolish act will not go unanswered.'
