The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran announced that flight restrictions will be imposed at airports in Tehran and Mashhad from July 4 to July 9 due to the funeral ceremony of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US attacks.
Iran's Civil Aviation Authority announced flight restrictions at some airports in the country between July 4-9 due to the funeral of Iran's former leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in attacks by the US and Israel on February 28.
FLIGHTS WILL BE SUSPENDED BEFORE THE FUNERAL
In a statement from Iran's Civil Aviation Authority, it was stated that flight restrictions will be implemented at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport, Mehrabad Airport, and Mashhad Airport between July 4-9 due to Khamenei's funeral.
The statement also emphasized that restrictions at airports in Tehran will be tightened on July 6, while Mashhad Airport will be completely closed on July 9 with no passenger transportation permitted.
TWO-DAY FUNERAL CEREMONY FOR KHAMENEI
The first funeral ceremony for Khamenei will be held on July 4-5 at Imam Khomeini Musalla Mosque in the capital Tehran.
Then, a second funeral ceremony will be held in Tehran on July 6.
Later, a ceremony will be held in Qom on July 7, and on July 9 in the city of Mashhad, where the body will be buried in a prepared area inside the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad.
