The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, responded to a question regarding the implementation planned for next year that would allow universities to complete programs in three years, stating, "We should not only look at it from the perspective of higher education. The duration of education and training will also need to be automatically shortened."
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin answered questions from journalists before the AK Party's parliamentary group meeting in the Parliament.
"WE DO NOT HAVE A NEW EDUCATION MODEL ON OUR AGENDA"
In response to a question regarding the claim of a new education model, Tekin stated, "They are not on our agenda right now. Currently, we are dealing with the mid-term break, the first holiday, as you know. We have budget discussions."
"WE SHOULD NOT ONLY LOOK AT HIGHER EDUCATION"
When asked, "What do you think about the situation of being able to complete university in 3 years, which is under YÖK's jurisdiction?" Tekin replied, "We should not only look at it from the perspective of higher education. As communication tools in the world develop, and as our youth and children access information more quickly, the duration of education and training will also automatically shorten. It's a very natural thing. The trend is in that direction."
"YÖK WANTS TO POPULARIZE THE ABILITY TO COMPLETE IN 3 YEARS IN THE CREDIT SYSTEM"
In response to the question, "So, anyone can complete it in 3 years?" Tekin said, "I haven't looked at YÖK's statement, but since there is a credit system in universities under normal conditions, they want to popularize whether there are universities where this is possible or not. It's a very appropriate decision."
"WE WILL MAKE 15 THOUSAND TEACHER APPOINTMENTS ON NOVEMBER 24"
While answering a question regarding the "15 thousand teacher appointments to be held on November 24," Minister Tekin stated, "We will have made the last teacher appointment as of November 24 with the 2024 KPSS and the KPSS plus interview system. As you know, the scores of our candidate friends were announced along with the KPSS score plus interviews. We are now collecting their preferences. On November 24, hopefully, with a ceremony attended by our President, our friends will learn their duty locations, and we will have made the appointments. Best wishes."
