Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that the mid-term break practice will continue in the 2026-2027 academic year. Tekin stated that there will be a mid-term break in the first semester, and said the mid-term break in the second semester will coincide with the week of Ramadan Feast. Thus, claims that the mid-term break would be abolished were also answered.
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made statements about the topics of interest regarding the 2026-2027 academic year. Stating that the new academic calendar will be published shortly, Tekin announced that the mid-term break practice will continue.
Speaking to the newspaper Türkiye, Minister Tekin stated that a mid-term break will be implemented in the first semester of the upcoming academic year.
THE SECOND SEMESTER MID-TERM BREAK WILL COINCIDE WITH RAMADAN BAYRAM WEEK
Sharing details about the new term, Tekin stated that the mid-term break in the second semester coincides with the week of Ramadan Bayram.
Tekin said, "We will publish the academic calendar. Next year, we will have a mid-term break in the first semester. In the second semester, the mid-term break period coincides with the week of Ramadan Bayram."
CLAIMS OF MID-TERM BREAK BEING ABOLISHED HAD SURFACED
Recently, various claims that the mid-term break practice might be abolished had come to the public agenda. It was particularly suggested that the one-week mid-term breaks implemented in November and April could be removed and added to the summer vacation.
With Minister Tekin's statement, it became clear that the mid-term break practice will continue in the new academic year.
