The claim that Turkish Airlines is in the process of acquiring Pakistan International Airlines has created a stir. Turkish Airlines' Press Consultant Yahya Üstün denied the reports published by some media outlets, stating, "Our partnership does not have any initiative in this direction."
Turkish Airlines (THY) denied the claims by stating that there are no ongoing negotiations to acquire Pakistan International Airlines.
THY'S STATEMENT CAME QUICKLY
THY's Press Advisor Yahya Üstün made a statement on social media regarding the issue, saying, "The news reported by various media outlets suggesting that our partnership is in negotiations to acquire Pakistan International Airlines does not reflect the truth. Our partnership has no such initiative. We respectfully announce this to the public."
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was claimed that Turkish Airlines (THY) had officially expressed interest in acquiring Pakistan's national airline, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Pakistan's Minister of State for Finance, Ali Pervaiz Malik, stated that negotiations between the Pakistani government and THY regarding the sale of PIA were ongoing. Additionally, the minister mentioned that Pakistan is on the verge of completing its International Monetary Fund (IMF) program, and this development would offer new opportunities for the country with global financial institutions.
