Israel continues its airstrikes in Syria, where the regime of Bashar al-Assad has been overthrown. Most recently, Israel targeted the headquarters of the 4th Division, previously commanded by the overthrown leader Assad's brother, Mahir Assad, in the strategic area of Qasyun Mountain near the capital, Damascus.

After the opposition groups ended the 61-year Ba'ath regime in 12 days, Bashar al-Assad and his family sought refuge in Russia. Following Assad's departure from the country, Israel advanced into Syrian territory for the first time in 51 years.

ASSAD'S BROTHER WAS IN COMMAND

The Tel Aviv administration, which carried out airstrikes in many provinces of Syria, continues its attacks in different locations. Israel conducted an airstrike on the headquarters of the 4th Division, previously commanded by the deposed leader Assad's brother Mahir Assad, around the strategic area of Qasyun Mountain in the capital Damascus.

ATTACK ON CRITICAL AREAS

The Tel Aviv administration also targeted the "Scientific Research Center" in the Misyaf district southwest of Hama. Additionally, the Halhala Military Airport north of Suwayda also became a target of Israeli attacks.

Following the intensification of clashes in Syria on November 27 and the collapse of the Ba'ath regime and Assad's rule, Israel conducted hundreds of airstrikes to destroy military capabilities in Syria.

ISRAEL'S OCCUPATION OF THE BUFFER ZONE IN SYRIA

The Israeli army entered the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, which is under occupation, on December 8, following the orders of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.

Israel has been occupying the Golan Heights, which belong to Syria, since 1967. The borders of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were defined by the Disengagement of Forces Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974.
