Israeli soldiers detained former Palestinian Minister of Endowments Hatim al-Bakri in the city of Hebron in the West Bank and also intervened against Palestinian journalists during the raid.

DETAINED WITH HANDS AND EYES BOUND

According to a report by the official Palestinian agency WAFA, Israeli soldiers raided his building in the Al-Hawuz area in the center of Hebron.

During the raid, Israeli soldiers detained former Palestinian Minister of Endowments and President of the Islamic Charity Association, Bakri, by binding his hands and eyes.

Israeli soldiers also detained Palestinians during the raid, including WAFA reporter Jawad al-Tamimi.

WHO IS HATIM AL-BAKRI?

Hatim al-Bakri is a Palestinian religious scholar and politician; he served as a minister in the Palestinian National Authority from 2022 to early 2024. Prior to his political career, he was known primarily as the chief imam and preacher of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, taking on critical roles in the management of Islamic endowments and charitable works in the region (especially during his presidency of the Hebron Charity Society). Throughout his tenure, he maintained an active profile in matters such as the administration of religious institutions in Palestine, the protection of holy sites, and the coordination of pilgrimage organizations, and he handed over his duties in March 2024 with the formation of the new government under President Muhammad Mustafa.
