After the flood disaster in Istanbul, in which 6 people lost their lives, Governor Davut Gül, making a statement regarding the work in Ayazağa, announced that serious damage was detected in approximately 2,000 homes and 900 workplaces. Gül, stating that payments to cover the damages would begin today, announced that another 2,500 people would receive 10,000 lira each in assistance.

İstanbul Governor Davut Gül made statements regarding the work carried out after the flood in Ayazağa.

In his assessment regarding the demolition of buildings in the area, Gül emphasized that action would be taken only for structures that need to be demolished.

"If there is a building that needs to be demolished, its demolition is ensured. Otherwise, when you look around, 'Let this building be demolished too, let that building be demolished too.' We have neither such an intention nor is there any reality to it," said Gül, stating that their aim was to ensure that streams flow in their own beds and to eliminate, together with all institutions, the occupations that prevent this.

URBAN TRANSFORMATION OFFICE HAS STARTED OPERATING

Gül reported that the urban transformation office, which Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced at the meeting in the region would be established, has begun serving at the Rauf Denktaş Culture Center.

Noting that citizens who want to transform their buildings and have safer structures can apply to this office, Gül conveyed that information is provided there on issues such as land and zoning status and opportunities for block-based consolidation.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS COMPLETED

Gül said that the damage assessment work carried out after the flood had been completed and that the monetary equivalents of the damages had been calculated, noting that citizens who have not yet applied or who were overlooked during the assessment can apply to the AFAD coordination trailer in the square. He stated that after applications, teams would conduct on-site inspections.

Explaining that all agricultural damages had been identified, Gül reported that the losses, including those involving small livestock and greenhouses, amounted to approximately 60 million lira. Gül stated that aid for covering the damages had begun to be delivered.

Noting that payments for homes and workplaces damaged by the flood would begin today, Gül said that demolished buildings and shops would also be evaluated within this scope.

SERIOUS DAMAGE IN APPROXIMATELY 3,000 HOMES AND WORKPLACES

Gül explained that teams inspected every report received on site, and that the applications varied in scale, from roof leaks to items in basements becoming completely unusable.

Explaining that serious damage had been identified so far in approximately 2,000 homes and 900 workplaces, Gül noted that applications were continuing to arrive.

Gül said, "We have determined that roughly 3,000 homes and workplaces have been seriously damaged. Their damages will also begin to be paid starting today."

AN ADDITIONAL 10,000 LIRA AID TO 2,500 PEOPLE

Recalling that 10,000 lira was paid on Friday to 5,200 citizens with smaller-scale damages, Gül reported that aid of the same amount would be delivered to approximately 2,500 people today as well.

Emphasizing that these payments were separate from the payments to be made based on damage assessments, Gül stated that the 10,000-lira support was transferred by the Ministry of Family and Social Services to citizens affected by the disaster for emergency aid purposes.

SIX PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN ISTANBUL, ONE PERSON IS MISSING

Also providing information about the loss of life, Gül announced that 6 people had lost their lives in Istanbul and that search efforts for one person were continuing.

Noting that two people who were swept from Kocaeli to Pendik were also found dead by gendarmerie search and rescue teams, Gül said that with these people, the number of lifeless bodies reached in Istanbul was 8. Gül prayed for God's mercy upon those who lost their lives.

SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS OWNERS TO REESTABLISH THEIR BUSINESSES

Also answering the question about the situation of two shops in the area, Gül conveyed that a significant portion of the belongings of tenant business operators had been submerged in water.

Gül stated that financial support would be provided for damaged materials, relocation, and the process of reestablishing a business, and noted that the grievances of business operators would be addressed.
