The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) will purchase a high-capacity unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that will provide services in critical areas such as logistical support during disasters and searching for survivors in rubble. According to a statement from the municipality, IMM, which purchased one UAV last year, has included the acquisition of a more advanced and higher-capacity UAV in its 2025 investment program. 35 MILLION LIRA ALLOCATEDA budget of 35 million lira has been allocated for the new UAV to be acquired by the Disaster Coordination Center Branch Directorate (AKOM). While the payload capacity of the UAV purchased last year was 14 kilograms, the new UAV to be acquired will have a payload capacity of 25 kilograms. The UAV to be purchased will serve as a versatile platform for damage assessment after disasters, search and rescue operations, and logistical support activities in emergencies. The UAV, equipped with thermal, high-resolution, and night vision cameras, will integrate the images and information from its own system with the Fire Department Information System and the Disaster Management Information System (AKOMAYS).
