RAIN COMING ON THE WEEKEND

Meteorology General Directorate Weather Forecast Expert Cengiz Çelik made evaluations to DHA regarding the expected weather in the coming days. Çelik noted that short-lived showers will be seen in Thrace and the northeast of the country tomorrow, and stated that no significant change is expected in temperatures. Cengiz Çelik said that air temperatures will continue to be slightly above seasonal norms, but the northern and central regions will come under the influence of a cool and rainy system on the weekend.

Stating that intermittent rainfall is expected especially in the northern and central regions from Saturday onwards, Çelik said, "With this rainfall, there will be a decrease in temperatures, and in some places it will drop 1-2 degrees below seasonal norms. On Saturday, we expect rainfall across the Marmara Region, on the Black Sea coasts, and in the east of Eastern Anatolia. On Sunday, while rainfall continues across the entire Black Sea Region, thunderstorms will be seen in the Inner Aegean, the Taurus region, and the east of Eastern Anatolia. The rainfall will mostly be effective during the afternoon and evening hours. With the system on the weekend, temperature drops of 3-4 degrees will occur especially in the northern and central regions. Due to cloudy weather and rain, the felt temperature will also decrease."

"RAIN EXPECTED IN ISTANBUL ON SATURDAY"

Also providing information on the expected weather in the three major cities, Cengiz Çelik said, "In Istanbul, thunderstorms are expected on Saturday. The highest temperature will drop from 31 degrees to 28-29 degrees. In Ankara, the weather over the weekend will be mostly partly cloudy, with cloudiness increasing after noon. On Sunday, we expect thunderstorms in the northern parts of the city, and on Monday across the entire province. While the highest temperature in Ankara is currently around 33-34 degrees, it will drop to around 28-29 degrees from Sunday onwards on Monday and Tuesday. After Tuesday, partly and mostly clear weather will prevail again. In Izmir, there is no rain in the coming days. However, starting from the weekend, some cloudiness may be observed on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will continue to range between 34-35 degrees."

"RAINFALL WILL SHIFT EAST IN THE NEW WEEK"

Stating that rainfall will shift to the eastern regions with the new week, Çelik said that rainfall is expected on Monday and Tuesday in the east of Central Anatolia, the Eastern Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and the Taurus region. Çelik noted that from mid-week onwards, the rainfall will lose its effect and mostly partly cloudy and clear weather will prevail across the country again.
