The Confederation of African Football decided today, by a unanimous decision, that the Africa Cup of Nations will be held every two years again. In the last tournament held, 21 footballers playing in the Süper Lig competed.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken action for the Africa Cup of Nations, for which a decision had previously been made to hold it every four years.
AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS AGAIN EVERY TWO YEARS
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the Africa Cup of Nations will again continue to be held every two years. In a statement published on the confederation's website, CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated that the decision was taken to protect the interests of the 54 member federations and to support the development of African football.
"WE TOOK INTO CONSIDERATION"
Motsepe said, "When making this decision, we took into consideration that it would take a few years for the tournament to reach a level where it can compete on a global scale and make significant contributions to the development of football." The Africa Cup of Nations, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda next year, will then be held in 2028, 2031, and 2033.
21 FOOTBALLERS FROM THE SUPER LEAGUE
In the most recently held Africa Cup of Nations, 21 footballers who played for teams in the Super League fought to win the cup.
