An important development has occurred regarding the Turkish Airlines plane named 'Bursa', which crashed into the Sea of Marmara in 1975, claiming the lives of 42 people, and whose wreckage has not been found for 50 years. YouTuber Nedim Kuru and his team, who have been searching for the wreckage for a long time, claimed that they detected a structure resembling the cockpit of the plane in their recent sonar scanning efforts.

On January 30, 1975, an important development occurred regarding the Turkish Airlines (THY) Fokker F-28 aircraft named 'Bursa', which crashed into the Sea of Marmara and whose wreckage has not been found for half a century. It was claimed that a structure resembling the cockpit of the aircraft was detected through sonar scanning.

IT RESEMBLES THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT

The search efforts for the wreckage, which claimed the lives of 42 people and has been missing for 50 years, are ongoing. YouTuber Nedim Kuru and his team stated that they had previously reached wreckage pieces of the aircraft during their underwater drone dives in the Büyükçekmece and Ambarlı areas of the Sea of Marmara. Yesterday, another dive was conducted with an underwater drone in the area where the wreckage was claimed to be located. As a result of the searches, sonar (radar) detected an image resembling the nose of the THY aircraft.

A PIECE BELIEVED TO BELONG TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND IN THE FIRST SEARCH

Kuru, who provided information about the efforts, claimed that they now know the location of the aircraft's wreckage, stating, "It has been lying at the bottom of the Sea of Marmara for 50 years along with its 42 passengers. I was very saddened when I first heard about the incident, and then I started searching for this lost aircraft. I conducted a 4-hour search operation in the area where it crashed with a special underwater drone. During our first dive, I captured an image of a piece of wreckage that we believe belongs to the aircraft. I believe I will find the entire pieces of the aircraft, so we conducted our second search operation to find and retrieve the wreckage, but we had to cut the operation short due to harsh weather," he said.

"WE KNOW THE LOCATION OF THE AIRCRAFT, WE WILL BRING IT TO LIGHT"

Kuru, who stated that they conducted another search operation in the Sea of Marmara yesterday, said, "We carried out our third search operation on January 6, and despite the south wind in the Sea of Marmara, we continued. This time, we started searching for the wreckage as a whole with the sonar search (radar) system. We recorded a large piece where the nose of the aircraft is located with the sonar, and as the south wind passes, we plan to dive again in the coming days to capture the front part of the aircraft detected by our sonar. We have obtained the necessary permits from the Istanbul Governorship. We now know the location of the aircraft. The aircraft is still at a depth of 75 meters. Very soon, we will bring this aircraft, which has been lying at the bottom of the Sea of Marmara for 50 years, to light," he expressed his feelings.

PREVIOUS SEARCH EFFORTS HAD BEEN LIMITED

Among those who lost their lives in the accident were names such as Kamuran Aksu, the father-in-law of coach Fatih Terim, and Seyyal Taner's flight attendant sister. Due to the technological inadequacies of the time, the wreckage could not be officially retrieved, and the search efforts were limited.
