The world is witnessing a fierce war between India and Pakistan. The conflict escalated with India's bombing of two mosques and five settlements in Azad Kashmir. Whether both nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, will use these weapons was discussed in the Haberler.com studio.

The decades-long Kashmir tension between India and Pakistan has turned into armed conflict this time. It has been reported that missile attacks by the Indian army on targets within Pakistan's borders have also targeted mosques and madrasas, resulting in dozens of casualties. The most curious question amid the escalating tension is whether Pakistan and India, both of which possess nuclear weapons, will use these weapons against each other.
Kocaeli University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. İrfan Kaya Ülger was a guest of Abdurrahman Yazıcı on Haberler.com. While commenting on the historical conflicts between India and Pakistan and the current regional balances, Ülger also drew attention to the role Turkey could play in this context.

Host Abdurrahman Yazıcı asked his guest, "Will they use nuclear weapons against each other?" Prof. Dr. Ülger stated that using nuclear weapons would almost mean committing suicide.
It's not easy because whoever makes the first strike in nuclear warfare faces the second-strike capability of the other side, meaning they can respond. Therefore, when you decide to use nuclear power, you are essentially deciding to commit suicide. You may face the possibility of suffering much greater damage than what you inflict on the other side. For this reason, the tension will escalate for a while and then move towards a point of reconciliation. As of now, it has been announced that the Indus Waters Treaty has been suspended. I believe that a reconciliation will be achieved at that point.
