It has been confirmed that national athlete Selene Durna has committed suicide.

National athlete Selene Durna, who competed in the Beşiktaş athletics team in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, lost her life after falling from the balcony of her apartment on the 6th floor. It was reported that Durna left a note saying, 'Tell my mother I am committing suicide' before her death.

NATIONAL ATHLETE DIED AFTER FALLING FROM THE 6TH FLOOR

The incident occurred yesterday around 1:30 PM on Orman Street in Bahçeköy Yeni Mahalle. According to allegations, national athlete Selene Durna fell from the balcony of her apartment on the 6th floor of the building where she lived alone, landing on the asphalt ground below. Neighbors who saw Durna fall notified the police. Upon receiving the report, health teams dispatched to the scene determined that Selene Durna had lost her life during their examination.

SHE LEFT A SUICIDE NOTE FOR HER MOTHER

Crime scene investigation teams examined Selene Durna's home and her parked car. During the investigations, it was determined that Durna had left a note on the door of her apartment, where she had lived for 3 years, stating "Tell my mother I am committing suicide" along with a phone number. It was learned that Durna, who committed suicide by jumping from the 6th floor, was holding her car keys in her hand. After the examinations, Selene Durna's lifeless body was taken to the morgue of Sarıyer Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital.

Upon hearing from her children, neighbor Sümeyye Arslan, who saw Selene Durna's lifeless body, said, "I don't have any acquaintance with her, I would see her getting in and out of her car and feeding the cats. Yesterday, my children didn't go to school, they said someone fell from the adjacent building while playing in the garden. I ran immediately; she was lying on the ground. They called the police and the ambulance. I didn't see the note, but I heard from the neighbors that she left one. I saw that she had the keys in her hand when the police officers took them."

BEŞİKTAŞ PUBLISHED A CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

Following the news of the death of Selene Durna, a former Turkish champion javelin thrower and 2019 Balkan runner-up who competed in the Beşiktaş jersey, Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club also published a condolence message. In a statement made on the club's social media page, it was expressed, "We have learned with great sadness that our national athlete Selene Durna has passed away. We wish Selene Durna God's mercy and extend our condolences to her family and loved ones."
