Two suspects who used a jammer to prevent a parked car from locking in Bayrampasa, Istanbul, and stole 200 thousand liras from inside the vehicle were caught. One of the suspects was arrested, while the other was released under judicial control. The moment of the theft was captured on security camera.
A driver who came to a shopping mall in the Kocatepe neighborhood of Istanbul's Bayrampaşa district wanted to lock his light commercial vehicle with the remote after parking.
BLOCKED WITH JAMMER, TOOK 200 THOUSAND LIRA AND FLED
At that moment, the suspect prevented the vehicle from locking using a signal jammer device in his hand. After circling the vehicle for a while, the suspect opened the driver's door, took an envelope containing 200 thousand lira, and fled the scene.
POLICE DETECTED VIA SECURITY CAMERAS
After a while, the driver returning to his vehicle realized the money was stolen and reported it to the police. Upon the report, police teams launched an investigation and examined the shopping mall's security camera footage. As a result of the footage and field work, the suspect's identity was identified. G.K., determined to be of Georgian nationality, was caught at the hotel where he was staying in Fatih. M.K., also of Georgian nationality, who was staying at the same hotel as the suspect, was also taken into custody.
400 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOUND IN HOTEL RAID
In the searches at the hotel, 1 signal jammer device and 1,400 dollars believed to have been obtained from the theft were seized.
ONE ARRESTED, THE OTHER RELEASED
After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. G.K. was arrested, while M.K. was released under judicial control.
