In the General Assembly of the Parliament, a resolution condemning Israel's intervention in the Freedom Flotilla, which included three members of parliament from Turkey and citizens of the Republic of Turkey, was unanimously accepted.
The resolution by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) condemning the intervention of the Freedom Flotilla, which includes three members of parliament from Turkey and citizens of the Republic of Turkey, was unanimously accepted in the TBMM General Assembly.
The resolution included the following statements:
"IT IS A COWARDLY ATTACK ON THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKEY" "Gaza, which has been forced to live under Israel's ruthless blockade for a long time and has been subjected to the massacres of the genocidal Netanyahu government for two years, has been struggling with hunger and famine for months. In the face of this cruelty, the 'Global Sumud Flotilla,' which set sail with hundreds of activists from 44 countries and more than fifty ships to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, break the unlawful Israeli blockade, and draw attention to the genocide occurring in Gaza, has become a strong voice of humanity.
Israel has added another to its ongoing genocide and other war crimes by attacking the Sumud Flotilla, a civil and peaceful initiative, in international waters, obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and once again brazenly violating international law. Despite the international community's reaction, the murderer Netanyahu and his gang have now attacked the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. The attack on the 'Vicdan' ship, which includes our citizens, among them Denizli MP Ms. Sema Silkin Ün, Bursa MP Mr. Mehmet Atmaca, and Hatay MP Mr. Necmettin Çalışkan, and a total of 21 citizens, should be known to be a cowardly attack on the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as well. On this occasion, we congratulate all the friends of Palestine in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition for their brave and humanitarian actions.
"WE WARN ISRAEL IN THE STRONGEST TERMS TO IMMEDIATELY RELEASE OUR CITIZENS" We warn Israel, which has long exceeded the limits of humanity's conscience with its reckless aggression, in the strongest terms that our citizens, including our members of parliament, must not be mistreated, that our detained citizens must be released immediately, and that they must return to our country as soon as possible. Together with all our political parties and members of parliament, we express that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey stands by our three valuable members of parliament, our detained citizens, and all the heroes who set out to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Furthermore, we will be the pioneers and persistent followers of holding accountable in international courts all crimes committed by Israeli occupying forces against the members of the Sumud and Freedom Flotillas, especially our members of parliament.
CALL TO INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTS We call on all parliaments and international parliamentary assemblies to take a united stance and raise their voices to end Israel's occupation, annexation, and extermination policies against the Palestinian people, to ensure that the people of Gaza have uninterrupted and comprehensive access to humanitarian aid, and to hold Israel accountable for the crimes against humanity it has committed. We believe that the international community will continue to respond with increasingly strong reactions to these cowardly attacks by the brutal Israeli regime that wounds the conscience of humanity, and that all obstacles in front of a free and sovereign Palestine will be overcome as soon as possible."
The flagship of the Freedom Coalition 'Vicdan' WHAT HAPPENED? Israeli naval forces illegally detained the Freedom Coalition ships that were on their way to break the illegal blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid in international waters.
Among the activists on the 'Vicdan' ship, which was illegally detained by Israel, were Saadet Party Hatay MP Necmettin Çalışkan, Bursa MP Mehmet Atmaca, and Future Party Denizli MP Sema Silkin Ün. There were 8 boats in the flotilla besides the flagship 'Vicdan.'
In a statement from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that the intervened ship and passengers were transferred to a port in Israel.
