The recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Taiwan has caused concern. The deaths of 14 people from the virus between August 4 and 10 marked the highest weekly death toll of the current wave. During the same period, the number of cases with severe complications reached 337, with the majority of these patients reported to be aged 65 and older, have chronic conditions, and were unvaccinated against COVID-19.

HIGHEST WEEKLY CASE AND DEATH COUNT RECORDED
According to reports in the local press, a statement was made by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding the Covid-19 cases recorded recently.
In the statement, it was noted that 14 people died due to Covid-19 in Taiwan between August 4-10, and it was reported that this number is the "highest weekly case and death count recorded in the current Covid-19 wave."
27.6 PERCENT INCREASE IN EMERGENCY ROOM ADMISSIONS
In the statement, it was stated that outpatient and emergency room admissions reached 24,645 between August 2-8, an increase of 27.6 percent compared to the previous week.

84 PERCENT OF CASES HAVE CHRONIC ILLNESSES
