Justice Minister Gürlek denies Demirtaş claim: I did not make such a statement

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi reported that at the AK Party MKYK meeting regarding the framework law, Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said Selahattin Demirtaş would not benefit from the regulation. Following this claim raised by Selvi, a denial came from Gürlek. Regarding the words attributed to him, Gürlek said, 'I did not make such a statement.'

Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi shared striking details about what was discussed at the AK Party MKYK meeting, held at the time the framework law regarding the resolution of the Kurdish issue was submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).

According to Selvi, Justice Minister Akın Gürlek and AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler briefed MKYK members on the legal regulation and answered their questions.

Selvi reported that Gürlek stated the regulation was specific to the dissolution of the PKK and temporary, and that other organizations could not benefit from it.

CLAIM: "ÖCALAN AND DEMİRTAŞ WILL NOT BENEFIT"

One of the most striking details in Selvi's article concerned Selahattin Demirtaş.

Selvi wrote that Justice Minister Gürlek stated during the MKYK meeting that Selahattin Demirtaş would not benefit from the current regulation.

Selvi also quoted Gürlek regarding trustees, saying, "There may be appointments to replace the trustees. Because they were removed from duty due to terrorist organization connections. But Esenyurt is different. Because Esenyurt was removed from duty for a different reason."

Following the claim regarding Selahattin Demirtaş in Selvi's article, TGRT Ankara Representative Fatih Atik spoke with Justice Minister Akın Gürlek.

In his post after the meeting, Atik used the phrase, "Special statement from the Justice Minister on the claim that Selahattin Demirtaş cannot benefit from the framework law."

According to Atik, Gürlek denied the claim that he said Selahattin Demirtaş would not benefit from the framework law, with the words, "I did not make such a statement."
