Justice Minister Akın Gürlek made statements during his visit to the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court. Gürlek stated that they would take the necessary steps decisively to increase trust in justice and that they would break the perception that 'justice is in favor of the strong.'

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek visited the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court. Meeting with the Regional Administrative Court Department Heads and Administrative Court Presidents, Minister Gürlek stated in his speech that they wanted to hear about the problems experienced in practice on-site, saying, "We came to listen to your problems. If you have any issues regarding the application, we are here with our deputy ministers."

"WE WILL BREAK THE PERCEPTION THAT JUSTICE IS ON THE SIDE OF THE STRONG"

Pointing out that there are two fundamental issues affecting trust in the judiciary, Minister Gürlek said that the sense of trust in the courts is not at the desired level. Justice Minister Gürlek stated, "There are two main reasons for this. The first is the prolongation of cases and trials. The second is the perception that justice is on the side of the strong. You all work very hard. I am sure of that. You take files home. All judges and prosecutors working in Istanbul are certainly sacrificing from their families. They are sacrificing from themselves. As a colleague, I ask you to take care of your files. I request that the duration of trials does not prolong. We are a big family. We will break the perception that justice is on the side of the strong together."

Calling on judicial members during the meeting, Minister Akın Gürlek emphasized the importance of concluding cases in a reasonable time. Minister Gürlek said, "I want you to take care of your files. I want you to put yourself in the place of the citizen. A stay of execution decision you give as administrative jurisdiction can lock the system instantly."

DELAYED FILES WILL BE CLOSELY MONITORED

Minister Gürlek stated that they care about target durations in the judiciary, saying, "If a case does not conclude within the target duration, there must be a reasonable justification for this. If there is a workload, a new court will be established or judges and personnel will be reinforced. But if there is a delay caused by the judge, necessary actions will be taken."

Stating that the judicial organization is a large structure, Minister Akın Gürlek emphasized that they will also fight against those who harm the profession.

Minister Gürlek stated that the accommodation opportunities for judges and prosecutors in Istanbul will be increased, announcing that new accommodations have been purchased on the Asian side, and a new project is also planned in Esenler. Minister Gürlek said, "We have purchased new accommodations on the Asian side. We are considering buying about 300 accommodations in Esenler. We will solve the accommodation problem."

Minister Gürlek also referred to the regulation regarding the duration of duty in Istanbul within the framework of the principles of the Judges and Prosecutors Council. Stating that Istanbul will be evaluated within the scope of the eastern duty, Minister Gürlek said that the duration of duty has been set at 10 years.
