I believe this piece will inspire more thought and discussion in the future and will be a part of history. I am honored to own the banana and look forward to it creating more inspiration and impact for art enthusiasts around the world. Additionally, in the coming days, I will personally eat the banana as part of this unique artistic experience and honor its place in both art history and popular culture."
HE PAID A 1 MILLION DOLLAR COMMISSION FOR THE AUCTION
The auction for the highly sought-after piece at Sotheby's started at 800 thousand dollars. Justin Sun purchased the piece for 5.2 million dollars, with the price rising to 4 million dollars within minutes. Sun also paid a 1 million dollar auction commission to acquire the banana.
