Kadir İnanır has filed a lawsuit against Gülşah Film, owned by Hülya Koçyiğit and Selim Soydan, on the grounds that his films were published without permission. The artist is currently seeking 20,000 Turkish Lira in damages, although it has been noted that this amount may be increased.
Kadir İnanır, one of the master actors of Yeşilçam, has taken legal action due to the unauthorized broadcasting of some films in which he has starred for years on television channels, social media, and digital platforms. The artist claims to have suffered material and moral damage due to these broadcasts and has filed a compensation lawsuit against the production company Gülşah Film. The company in question belongs to Hülya Koçyiğit, one of the important actors of Yeşilçam, and her husband Selim Soydan.
"OUR RIGHTS ARE NOT BEING PAID"
In the lawsuit petition submitted by İnanır's lawyer to the Istanbul Intellectual and Industrial Rights Court, it was emphasized that the films in question are among the cultural works of Turkish cinema. According to Hürriyet's news, the petition included the following statements: "The rights that my client holds as a performing artist can only be used in exchange for a written transfer. These films are broadcast countless times in the most expensive broadcasting slots. Gülşah Film is generating significant financial income as a result. Nevertheless, the compensation for Kadir İnanır's rights arising from the relevant films is not being paid. Kadir İnanır has suffered material and moral damage. My client has not transferred his rights to this company in any way. For now, we are requesting the collection of 20 thousand lira in compensation from Gülşah Film along with interest."
REQUESTED WITH INTEREST
In the lawsuit, Kadir İnanır stated that the broadcasts conducted by Gülşah Film violated his artistic rights and requested the collection of 20 thousand lira in material and moral compensation along with legal interest for now. The petition also noted that this amount could be increased based on the court's assessment in the future.
NO STATEMENT YET FROM GÜLŞAH FILM
While no statement has yet been made from Gülşah Film regarding the lawsuit that has caused a significant public outcry, industry representatives believe that this development will reignite discussions on copyright issues.
