In Mersin, one of the three defendants, Hüseyin Arda Şark (20), was sentenced to life imprisonment for 'child murder with potential intent' and 2 years in prison for 'unlicensed possession of a weapon' in the death of Hiranur Aygar (16), who was shot in the head with a pistol in a car.

In Mersin, Hiranur Aygar (16), who was shot in the head with a pistol in a car, was killed. Of the three defendants tried in custody, Hüseyin Arda Şark (20) was sentenced to life imprisonment for 'causing death with probable intent' and 2 years in prison for 'possession of unlicensed weapons.' The other defendants, Mustafa Zeybek (28) and Nazmi Çetin (21), were sentenced to 4 months each for 'destroying, hiding, or altering crime evidence' and were released.

The incident occurred on the night of August 31 last year in the Toroslar district. Hiranur Aygar died at Mersin City Hospital, where she was brought by car with a severe head wound from a pistol. Her boyfriend Hüseyin Arda Şark, who brought Aygar to the hospital, stated to the hospital police, 'Hira has been my girlfriend for about 2 months. We went to a soldier's celebration together. During this time, I fired into the air with the pistol I had. On the way back, while returning home with my friends Nazmi Çetin and Mustafa Zeybek, we stopped at a market on Sebahattin Çakmakoğlu Street in Akbelen neighborhood. We got out of the car. Meanwhile, Hira, who remained in the car, took the pistol and shot herself in the head.'

CHANGED HIS STATEMENT; CLAIMED HE SHOT HER WHILE JOKING

After Mustafa Zeybek and Nazmi Çetin also gave contradictory statements, the Homicide Bureau team launched an investigation and detained the three suspects. In his second statement, suspect Şark said that while joking, he pressed the pistol he thought was empty against his girlfriend's forehead and pulled the trigger, and that after the incident they did not go to the hospital immediately but first left Hiranur Aygar in a wooded area, then retrieved her and took her to the hospital. A bloodstain was found during a search by teams at the specified location. After the autopsy, Hiranur Aygar's body was taken by her relatives and buried. The three suspects were arrested by the court.

LAWSUIT FILED

The indictment prepared by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the defendants was accepted by the Mersin 5th Heavy Penal Court. The indictment sought punishment for suspect Şark for 'premeditated murder of a child' and 'possession of unlicensed weapons,' and for Nazmi Çetin and Mustafa Zeybek for 'destroying, hiding, or altering crime evidence.'

VERDICT HEARING HELD

The 5th hearing of the case was held today at the Mersin 5th Heavy Penal Court. The detained defendants attended via the Audio and Visual Informatics System (SEGBIS) from their prison, while lawyers and Hiranur's parents were present in the courtroom.

The grieving mother, Gülten Tan, stated that her daughter was deliberately killed and demanded the harshest penalty for the defendants. Father Murat Aygar also requested that all three defendants be punished for murder.

'I WANT MY RELEASE'

When asked for his final words, defendant Hüseyin Arda Şark said, 'There was absolutely no argument between us. I did not harm her, I did not shoot. I have no reason to shoot. I want my release.'

The other detained defendants, Mustafa Zeybek and Nazmi Çetin, also argued that they had nothing to do with the incident and requested their release.

After the lawyers' statements, the court panel announced its decision, sentencing defendant Şark to life imprisonment for 'causing death with probable intent' and 2 years in prison for 'possession of unlicensed weapons,' and ordered the continuation of his detention.

The court sentenced the other defendants, Zeybek and Çetin, to 4 months each for 'destroying, hiding, or altering crime evidence' and ordered their release.

REACTION TO THE VERDICT

After the hearing, Aygar's family and relatives, along with Mersin Bar Association President Gazi Özdemir and the plaintiff's lawyers, held a press conference in front of the Mersin Courthouse. The Aygar family and lawyers expressed their reaction to the verdict and said they would appeal.
