TOOK THE SHEEP UNDER THE TREE TO PROTECT THEM FROM THE RAIN
The incident occurred around 7:00 PM in a pasture area in the rural Alibeyköy neighborhood of Bursa's İnegöl district. Small livestock farmer İsmail İpek (55), seeking shelter from the sudden downpour, left his sheep in the pasture and took refuge in a greenhouse.
LIGHTNING STRUCK THE TREE
The herd of 26 small livestock gathered under a nearby tree. At that moment, lightning struck the tree where the sheep were. İpek, noticing the lightning struck nearby, ran to his herd and saw his animals lying on the ground. It was found that 6 sheep died as a result of the lightning strike, while one was injured.

Upon notification, teams from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry arrived at the scene, conducted an investigation, carried out damage assessment, and prepared a report. Describing the incident, the herd owner İsmail İpek said, "It was raining very heavily, lightning was flashing. I entered the greenhouse to protect myself from the rain. The animals had gone under the tree. Right after I went inside, there was a loud noise. Lightning struck. The animals scattered. Some remained where they were. 6 died, 1 was injured."
It was learned that the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams will prepare a report after the damage assessment related to the incident.
