Onur Bilici (28), who lives alone in Bursa's İnegöl district, has been caring for pigeons that nested under the armchair in his living room about 1.5 months ago, as if they were his own eyes. The young man does not use the living room to avoid disturbing the mother pigeon and her chick, and leaves the balcony door open for them.
Onur Bilici, who lives in İnegöl, noticed that pigeons entering through the balcony door leading to the living room had made a nest under his armchair 1.5 months ago. Seeing eggs in the nest, Bilici did not drive the birds away but instead took care of them. Over time, a chick hatched from the egg, and the young man essentially allocated part of his home to the pigeons.
HE KEEPS THE DOOR CONSTANTLY OPEN
Bilici stated that he tries not to enter the living room as much as possible to avoid startling the mother pigeon and its chick, and he keeps the balcony door constantly open to allow the pigeons easy access. Emphasizing that harming animals is wrong, Bilici said, 'They say he who destroys a nest will have his own nest destroyed. After all, they are creatures created by God. They have chosen this place as their nest. I am trying to help them as much as I can.'
"I LIVE ALONE, THEY BECAME MY GUESTS"
Describing the incident, Bilici said, 'One day I came home from work and was about to have breakfast. After breakfast, I heard sounds coming from under the armchair. When I leaned under the armchair, I noticed two birds. I saw they had made a nest and was moved. I didn't want to disturb them. I was also happy. I live alone, so they became my guests.'
"I ONLY ENTER THE ROOM TO FEED THEM"
Stating that the pigeons have been guests for about 1.5 months, Bilici said, 'It lasted about 1.5-2 months. The birds laid two eggs. I stopped entering the room so as not to scare them. I couldn't even clean. I just gave them their food. Rice, bulgur, etc. This chick was born two days ago. We are feeding it. Its parents usually come in the evenings. They stay for 5-10 minutes, feed it, and leave. There were times when I used this room. They weren't disturbed by seeing me. We went through such a process.'
"HE WHO DESTROYS A NEST WILL HAVE HIS NEST RUINED"
Recalling the proverb, Bilici said, 'That's why I didn't want to disturb them. Let its parents come and go freely. During this time, I will wait for it to grow up and then watch it fly off beautifully. When I came home from work in the morning and had breakfast, it would come from the balcony. They were never afraid of me. I live alone, and they became a friend, a companion to me.' - BURSA
