A flock of sheep became trapped in a sinkhole that formed in the Polatlı district of Ankara. Some animals died in the incident, while the shepherd and local residents mobilized to rescue the remaining animals.
A flock of small livestock being grazed in the Polatlı district of Ankara suddenly fell into a sinkhole that formed in the terrain. While some of the animals trapped in the sinkhole perished, locals and the shepherd raced against time to rescue the remaining ones.
The incident occurred in the Tüfekçioğlu neighborhood of Polatlı district. According to the information obtained, a deep sinkhole formed in the terrain while the shepherd was grazing his animals on the pasture. Unable to notice the situation, many small livestock fell into the sinkhole, several meters deep, and became trapped.
RESIDENTS MOBILIZED
With the flock falling into the sinkhole, a scene of life-or-death struggle unfolded in the area. The shepherd and locals, recovering from the shock of the event, immediately took action to extract the animals from the pit they had fallen into. Descending into the sinkhole with their own means and initiating rescue efforts using ropes, the intense efforts of the citizens resulted in many animals being rescued. However, it was determined that some small livestock had perished due to the impact of the fall and crushing.

Local residents stated that sudden sinkhole formations in these agricultural and livestock regions pose a major threat to both themselves and their animals.
