Two children leaning out of the sunroof of a car that was dangerously weaving through traffic in Diyarbakır caused moments of terror. After the footage, captured moment by moment by another driver, prompted action, security forces fined the irresponsible driver 111,000 TL and confiscated his license.
The incident occurred on August 18 on the Diyarbakır-Ergani highway. The driver of a moving car began speeding and weaving between vehicles in heavy traffic.
CHILDREN LEANED OUT OF THE OPEN SUNROOF
The danger reflected in the footage was not limited to weaving. The journey of two small children who leaned out of the car's open sunroof, heedless of the wind and high speed, made other drivers' hearts race. Those moments were recorded second by second by another vehicle's camera in the area.
LICENSE CONFISCATED, VEHICLE BANNED FROM TRAFFIC
Following the dangerous journey footage that appeared on social media and in the press, teams from the Provincial Police Department's Regional Traffic Enforcement Branch immediately launched an investigation. The driver, whose identity and vehicle were quickly determined and who was apprehended, was hit with fines.
Under Law No. 2918 on Highway Traffic, the driver was:
- Weaving through traffic,
- Violating the emergency lane,
- Driving disrespectfully
an administrative fine totaling 111,000 TL was imposed for these offenses. Additionally, the driver's license was confiscated for 60 days, and the car that posed a danger was banned from traffic.
