“BURY ME NEXT TO THE TOMB OF SHEIKH ALI SEMERKANDI”

According to the claim in journalist-author Fehmi Çalmuk's article titled “Melih Gökçek's Will” on Politik Adam, Melih Gökçek told his close associates that if he passes away, he wants to be buried in the cemetery containing the Tomb of Sheikh Ali Semerkandi in the Çamlıdere district of Ankara. Çalmuk suggested that Gökçek has turned more toward his spiritual world after the major surgery.

5 BLOCKED ARTERIES

It was recalled that Melih Gökçek underwent bypass surgery in 2024 due to five blocked arteries. The article stated that after the severe surgical process, Gökçek developed a special devotion to the Tomb of Sheikh Ali Semerkandi. In his column, Fehmi Çalmuk used the following expressions: "You know how the elders used to say after a bypass surgery, 'You have renewed your faith board'; according to my information, Melih Gökçek, after his major surgery, disclosed his will to his close circle: 'When I die, bury my grave in the cemetery where the Tomb of Sheikh Ali Semerkandi is located.'"

Çalmuk also touched upon the Sufi concept of "dying before death" in his article, noting that Gökçek has already chosen his eternal resting place.
