The Meteorology Department has issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for Istanbul's Anatolian side and the Bosphorus area.
HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED FOR 3 HOURS
According to a statement from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, locally heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul's Anatolian side and the Bosphorus area over the next three hours.
CAUTION FOR HAIL AND FLOODING
The statement said, "Based on recent assessments and data from the meteorological radar, locally heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul's Anatolian side and the Bosphorus area over the next three hours. Precautions should be taken against adverse conditions such as flash floods, flooding, lightning, local hail, strong winds and storms during rainfall, and disruptions in transportation. Due to the rainfall, caution and preparedness are required against negative impacts including flash floods, flooding, lightning, local hail, strong winds and storms, and transportation disruptions."
RAIN AFFECTING KADIKOY
Following the warnings from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, rainfall is affecting various parts of Istanbul. Due to the rain, puddles have formed on the Kadıköy D-100 Highway, and some roads have turned into lakes after the rain. Citizens caught unprepared by the sudden downpour experienced difficult moments.
