In the operation against the structure known as "Kuytulcular" in Adana, it was revealed that the nephew of Alparslan Kuytul, who was detained, was the "clandestine responsible for the gendarmerie" of FETÖ. It was learned that nephew Kuytul, who was tried with a sentence of 22.5 years, benefited from effective remorse and his sentence was reduced to 2 years and 6 months.
A striking detail emerged after Alparslan Kuytul and his wife were detained in the Adana-centered "Kuytulcular" investigation.
Within the scope of the investigation launched by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a dawn operation was carried out yesterday morning at a total of 49 addresses across 6 provinces by the Adana Provincial Police Department against the structure known publicly as "Kuytulcular" and reportedly led by Alparslan Kuytul. A detention decision was issued for 32 suspects, including Alparslan Kuytul and his wife Semra Kuytul, on various charges, and the Kuytul couple was taken into custody.
HIS NEPHEW TURNED OUT TO BE THE GENDARMERIE COVERT RESPONSIBLE Following the operation, it emerged that Alparslan Kuytul's nephew, Hakan Kuytul, was tried in 2021 at the Adana 11th Heavy Penal Court on the claim that he was the organization's "gendarme covert responsible" within the scope of the FETO/PDY investigation. In the indictment prepared about Hakan Kuytul by the Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that in digital material seized at the home of Nihat K., who was identified as the "Marmara Region Responsible" in FETO's gendarmerie covert structure in Istanbul a few months after the coup attempt, a program containing information of people working in the organization's covert structure of the Gendarmerie General Command was found on a flash drive and SD card. In the information obtained within the scope of the program, it was understood that Kuytul was involved in the gendarmerie covert structure of the FETO/PDY armed terrorist organization, and it was determined from witness statements in the file and other evidence that the suspect served as a senior responsible in the covert services class within the organization's gendarmerie structure. In the indictment, a prison sentence of up to 22.5 years was sought for Kuytul on the charge of "establishing and managing an armed terrorist organization."
HE BECAME A REPENTANT In the hearing held at the Adana 11th Heavy Penal Court, the public prosecutor, in his opinion on the merits, stated that the defendant carried out activities as a "gendarme covert responsible" within FETO, contacted military personnel upon instructions from the organization's so-called senior leaders, conveyed the donations he collected to a superior, was contacted sequentially from fixed and payphone lines on different dates, and that there were consistent witness statements and identifications against him. The prosecutor, noting that the defendant accepted the charges and provided useful information about FETO's structure and the crimes committed within the organization, requested that Kuytul be punished under the effective remorse provisions for the charge of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization" taking this into account. The court panel, benefiting from the effective remorse provisions, sentenced Hakan Kuytul to 2 years and 6 months in prison for "being a member of an armed terrorist organization."
