The Ministry of Trade determined that the colored water-filled teether product offered for children's use does not meet safety standards. Inspections found that the product may pose a risk of suffocation and airway obstruction in children. The Ministry decided to ban the placing of the product, which threatens children's health, on the market and to recall it.

An inspection of a product intended for children's use revealed a serious safety risk. After the examinations, the Ministry of Trade took action and made two important decisions regarding the product.

COLORED WATER-FILLED TEETHING TOY FAILED THE SAFETY TEST

Within the scope of market surveillance and inspections carried out by the Ministry of Trade, it was determined that the colored water-filled teething toy product offered for children's use is not safe. In the examinations, it was found that the product does not meet the relevant toy safety standards. The importance of safety standards in products intended especially for small children once again came to the fore. The non-compliance identified in the Ministry's inspections also revealed the danger the product may pose to children's health.

THERE IS A RISK OF CHOKING AND AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION

The most striking result of the inspections was the vital risks the product may pose to children. The Ministry of Trade determined that the colored water-filled teething toy carries the danger of choking and airway obstruction. Upon this determination, action was taken to prevent the product from being available on the market. Within the scope of the inspections it carries out against products that may threaten children's safety, the Ministry decided to impose sanctions regarding the teething toy in question.

THE MINISTRY MADE TWO CRITICAL DECISIONS

Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor at the Ministry of Trade, announced the results of the inspections and the decisions taken. Kaplan reported that, because the product was not found safe, its placing on the market was banned and a decision was made to recall it. Thus, it was decided to prevent the product, which was determined not to meet safety standards, from being placed on the market and to recall the products on the market.

"OUR INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN"

In his statement regarding the inspections carried out by the Ministry of Trade, Bekir Kaplan used the following expressions: "Within the scope of the market surveillance and inspections carried out by our Ministry of Trade, it was determined that one colored water-filled teething toy product intended for children's use is not safe. In the examinations, it was determined that the product does not meet the relevant toy safety standards and may pose a risk of choking and airway obstruction in children. A decision was taken to ban the placing on the market and recall the product in question. As the Ministry of Trade, we continue our inspections decisively against products that especially threaten the health and safety of our children; we absolutely do not allow unsafe products to be present on the market. Our inspections will continue without interruption for the safety of our children."
