In a count conducted at the medicine warehouse of the radiology department of a hospital in Adana, it was revealed that 19 thousand medicines were missing. The warehouse worker, C.S., who was alleged to have stolen and sold the medications, with an approximate market value of 15 million lira, has been arrested.
19 THOUSAND MEDICATIONS MISSING
The incident occurred at the Radiology department of Çukurova University Medical Faculty Balcalı Hospital in the central Sarıçam district.
According to the allegations, C.S. (36), who worked as the warehouse supervisor in the radiology department, went on annual leave. Following this, S.A.B. (51) began overseeing the warehouse. During his inspections, S.A.B. noticed shortages in the medications.
An inventory count in the warehouse determined that 19,000 medications were not in their place.
VALUE OF MEDICATIONS IS 15 MILLION LIRA
The market value of the missing medications was determined to be approximately 15 million lira. S.A.B. reported the situation to the hospital administration.
The hospital administration, unable to reach the warehouse supervisor C.S., reported the situation to the police. As a result of the teams' work, C.S. was apprehended and taken into custody.
"I HAD DEBT, THEY THREATENED ME"
It was learned that in his statement to the police, C.S. claimed he was threatened due to his debts, saying, "I had debt, they threatened me. That's why I took and sold 2 million worth of medications. I have no knowledge of the other medications."
WAREHOUSE WORKER ARRESTED
C.S., who was alleged to have stolen and sold the medications, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station.
C.S., after being brought before the duty court, was arrested and sent to prison.
